Sex & The City: Who would each character have voted for in the 2024 election?
Assuming the women are from the original series and not the overwhelmingly liberal characters in Just Like That, here’s how I think each friend would’ve voted:
I’m once again rewatching Sex & the City but this time around with the elections just passing, it made me wonder - who would each character have voted for if they existed in present day?
Obviously this is a group of four white women, so it’s truly a gamble on who’d they vote for, but based on what these fun and often relatable characters have shown us throughout the series, here’s who I think they’d throw their support behind:
Charlotte
She may marry a man who’d vote for Trump, but she could never bring herself to do it. Her first husband Tre was literally an aristocrat and while he’d think 45 to be a blubbering idiot, he was still a blubbering idiot that he’d want to win. Certainly, his mother Bunny felt the same.
Just imagine, Charlotte uncomfortably watching her mother-in-law caress her husband’s arm as the two discussed Kamala’s capital gains tax. She’d agree that it was bad for their bottom line, but at the end of the day Charlotte knew deep down she could never support a felon or r*pist. She also knew better than to say it aloud.
It was just another fundamental difference her and Tre had. She wondered if her husband’s inability to please her had anything to do with it. Perhaps, she thought, a man wishes to control a woman’s body because he simply cannot satisfy it.
Later on that week, Charlotte would hide in a coat closet to fill out her ballot in secret when Tre walks in.
“What are you doing in here dear?” he’d glance at the envelope behind her back.
“I was just writing that check for the humane society” She rushes past him. “I’m getting lunch with the girls!”
Now if Charlotte was married to Harry (who definitely calls the Israeli-Palestinian “conflict” complicated), the two would proudly back Kamala.
Samantha
She’d want to vote for whoever looked better to f*ck, for obvious reasons and that’d be Harris. But Samantha’s no fool; she cares way too much about her reproductive rights to vote against them. Perhaps if it were any other Republican candidate, she’d consider them instead, but she would never vote for Trump.
Sitting across from her friends over lunch, she recalls attending one of his parties in the early 2000s where unsolicited, he pulled out his member.
“He thought it’d be humorous to do it in front of us girls, but jokes on him because there was nothing to see.”
She smirks, a fond memory fills her mind: “Thankfully his bar staff had more to offer.”
Miranda
Even though she’s the character most likely to have a Karen moment, Miranda’s a level headed lawyer with practical values. She supports abortion, women’s rights and Steve’s ass so without a doubt she’s casting her vote for the Harris/Walz ticket. She’s probably voting blue down the ballot.
However when it comes to more nuanced issues like propositions on rent control and homelessness, Miranda definitely votes against the community she’s gentrifying.
Carrie
Hands down, Carrie’s the friend who’s got the most to lose. She lives in reduced housing with hardly any savings and likely no health insurance either. In other words, she’d greatly benefit from a Democratic leader especially as a WW, but for some reason or perhaps that exact reason, Carrie votes against her own interests.
Yup that’s right, Carrie is the one character most likely to vote for Trump.
Now is Carrie the type to tout a MAGA hat with her Manolo Blahniks? Probably not, but voting for Kamala probably doesn’t align with what her beau Big is doing. Sure, she’ll regret it the day after, but by then it’d be too late.
Of course, there’s always the possibility that all 4 women or at least more than just Carrie would’ve backed Trump considering 53% of WW voted for the man.
What do you think?

I loved this ! Lmaoooo about Carrie - I figured she wouldn’t have voted. Something about how the only vote on her kind is the men she’s juggling or something.
